'Chota Haridwar' temple authorities and divers 'kill' and 'loot' people, alleges Loni MLA

Ghaziabad: A letter written to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ghaziabad by Loni MLA Nandkishore Gujjar centering the Chota Haridwar Temple has erupted fresh controversy. The letter that states the involvement of the head priest Mukesh Giri and the divers involved in looting and murdering the people has enraged the temple officials.

According to the letter, when people take a dip in the canal adjacent to the temple, the local divers kill the devotees and loot them. The letter further alleged that while the divers ask for money from the kins of the drowned individuals to recover their bodies, the priest of the temple plays a significant role in the killings.

While SSP Ghaziabad went on record to state that no such complaint has been registed by any other individual except MLA Gujjar, he assured an inquiry by superintendent of police (SP) Dehat into the alleged conspiracy.


Temple reacts to the allegation:

Reacting to the allegations, the temple authorities released a video where the divers are seen saving lives of the people. The head priest of the temple said that the only attempt made is to save the lives of the people drowning in the canal. He further stated that certain anti-social elements are fabricating stories to bring bad name to the temple.

Complaint filed by the priest:

The head priest Mukesh Giri made a complaint to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in this regard. According to reports, Giri refrained from naming the MLA in his complaint for fear that he might have to bear the brunt for plotting against Gujjar.
