IT conducts surveys in 2 Kashmir firms

Srinagar: The Income Tax (IT) department has conducted surveys on two businesses in the terror-hit areas of Kashmir valley on Thursday.

This is the first survey by the IT department after a decade. The survey was conducted on the Mir Group, which has offices in Pulwama and Pampore for alleged tax evasion running into crores of rupees, officials said.


The Mir Group is a manufacturer of electric poles. IT dept suspects "round tripping" of funds. Another Survey is going on against Hafeez group. Offices of Hafeez group in Srinagar are being surveyed.

Hafeez Group is in the construction, real estate and hotel business. The CRPF accompanied the Income Tax teams for ensuring security of the team members.
