DCW rescues 8 girls trafficked from Nepal

New Delhi: Eight women trafficked from Nepal were rescued on Thursday in a joint operation by the DCW, Nepalese NGO KI, and Delhi police.

The women were being readied to be sent to Iran and Kuwait

According to reports, the eight women were trafficked from Nepal and were being readied to be sent to Iran and Kuwait.


The women were housed in one single room in a hotel in Delhi's Paharganj, from where they were eventually rescued.

"DCW chief @SwatiJaiHind and NGO KI Nepal rescues 8 Nepalese girls from Hotel Omaxe Deluxe, Paharganj. They were being sent to Iraq & Kuwait 2 work in parlour & homes. Trafficking of earthquake affected Nepalese women to Gulf continues unabated!," tweeted Amit Mishra, head of the AAP Citizen Interaction Team.

In a similar case earlier in July, 16 girls trafficked from Nepal were rescued by DCW chief Swati Maliwal and her team.

The girls who were housed in a small room in Munirka, were misled and brought to Delhi from Nepal. They were being readied to be sent to Iraq and Kuwait.
