Gang rape victim attacked with acid in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: In a grisly incident, a gang rape survivor was attacked with acid by two masked men while she was on her way to court. It is learnt that the minor girl was going to the juvenile court located in sector-25.

Soon after the attack the girl was taken to a hospital in sector-16. The girl is undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger, police said.


According to sources, she met a Kashmiri Muslim boy on Facebook and became friends with him. The boy disguised himself as a Hindu and asked the girl to meet him. The youth somehow took objectionable pictures of the girl and started blackmailing her.

According to the girl, the accused asked her to come to Srinagar and promised to return her objectionable picture. When she reached there she was gang raped, the victim alleged. Later the girl got pregnant. She was left with no option but to terminate her pregnancy, victim said in her complaint.

She went to the police station and lodged a complaint against the accused boy. Police filed the case and arrested the boy. He was later granted bail after being sent to a juvenile home for 28 days.

The minor girl's advocate JS Bains said that the girl has been gang raped in the name of love-jihad. And the police are trying to suppress the matter. Even the victim is not getting justice in the juvenile court and she is being threatened by the police. And according to the law, it is compulsory that there must a woman police officer to investigate a gang rape case, however, in this case a male police officer is investigating the matter, the victim alleged.

The victim's elder sister said that the girl is in shock and the police are not taking any action, and she is being threatened by the police. And she also accused the male police officer of asking vulgar questions during the investigation.

According to the victim, the accused did not appear in the juvenile court for the last two days. She also alleged that the accused is an adult and has been deliberately made a juvenile.

Here, a Hindu organization has also come forward considering this case of love-jihad, they are demanding a proper investigation of this case.
