Wreckage of plane carrying Emiliano Sala found in English Channel

Guernsey: The plane carrying Cardiff City's new sign Argentina footballer Emiliano Sala and his pilot David Ibbotson has been found on the seabed of the English Channel, the search coordinator and air investigator said on Sunday.

"I can confirm it has been found," a spokesperson for Britain's Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) was quoted by media.
The AAIB was assisted by Geo Ocean III ship and a ship led by marine expert and shipwreck hunter David Mearns in finding out the wreckage of the plane. The search operation was funded by Argentina football stars Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuaín and others footballers.
Earlier, a search operation was called off as it failed to come up with any clue. The chief of the search operation Mearns wrote on Twitter that "the families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been notified by police."
"Tonight our sole thoughts are with the families and friends of Emiliano and David," he wrote in another tweet.
The Piper aircraft was carrying Sala from Nantes, France to Cardiff, Walse as he was signed by EPL side Cardiff City for $34 million.
The aircraft disappeared from the radars near the Channel Islands on its way to Cardiff on January 21. Meanwhile, Cardiff City supporters paid homage to Emiliano Sala on Saturday before the Welsh club won their Premier League clash with Bournemouth.
