Asia Cup Highlights: IND thrash PAK in one-sided contest
Dubai: Hello and welcome to Eenadu's live updates on India vs Pakistan, Group A match of Asia Cup 2018.
23:06:India registered a comfortable eight wicket win over their arch-rivals Pakistan in their second group match of the Asia Cup 2018. Chasing a low target of 163 runs, India easily got home in just 29 overs.
23:01: India just moements away from victory as they need mere 9 runs off 22 overs. IND 155/2 in 28 overs
22:23: OUT! Faheem Ashraf to Dhawan, out Caught by Babar Azam. He was in a hurry, and you can't blame him. Just when we started checking which fifty this would be for Dhawan, he saves us our efforts with a big slash, going after the short-wide liner to toe-end the flat bat to point. Babar took a good catch to get rid of India's second opener. IND at 106/2 after 17 overs.
22:00: OUT!!! Shadab Khan provides first breakthrough to Pakistan as he removes India skipper Rohit Sharma on his very first ball of th match. However, India won't mind the wicket much as they are cruisng towards victory. Rohit b Shadab Khan 52(39), IND 86/1 in 13.1 overs
21:45: Rohit and Dhawan have provided solid start to India, while Pakistan is looking clueless currently. IND 58/0 after 10 overs.
21:07: Three overs have been bowled and India's openers are playing carefully and taking their time to settle. IND 14/0 in 3 overs.
20:56: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan come out to open for India as Mohammad Amir bowls first over for Pakistan.
20:54: Second innings begins.
Now India need 163 to win this encounter against Pakistan and this would do loads to their confidence. After a dismal bowling performance against Hong Kong, this was a remarkable comeback.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav were the lynchpins of the Indian bowling with three wickets each.
Bhuvneshwar returned figures of 3/15 while Jadhav got 3/23.
For Pakistan, Babar Azam was the highest scorer with 47 runs.
Pakistan: 162 in 43.1 overs (Babar Azam 47, Shoaib Malik 43; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 47, Kedar Jadhav 3/23) vs India.
20:14: Bumrah to Usman Khan, out Bowled! Bumrah finishes off Pakistan innings with a peach of a yorker. Pakistan are bowled out for a lowly 162 as they never got going. Pakistan just couldn't come to terms with it, with the openers just not being able to get going. Bumrah kept setting them up with maidens, drying out the runs, and Bhuvneshwar kept drawing out the edge. Apart from the Babar-Malik stand that was willing to stitch around with singles, it was rather listless, pre and post. Kedar Jadhav also joined the party as India dominated their neighbours in this inning.
20:06: Bhuvneshwar to Hasan Ali, out Caught by Karthik! Hasan tries rubbing in some swagger in his dismissal. Lovely high elbows, and the bat swinging on the full-faced on-the-up punch over the infield. But all he gets here is a toe-end, chipping up meekly for mid-on to mop across to his right. Pak at 162/9 after 43 overs.
20:00: Faheem Ashraf, out Caught by Dhawan! Bumrah returns, and he's done setting things up for others to bank on. Gets out a slower one, sucking Ashraf in with the big premeditated mow across the line. But the pace just isn't there .. miscues up, high up and Dhawan has one of the simpler thigh slaps at deep mid-wicket. Pak at 160/8 after 42 overs.
19:24:Shadab Khan, out Stumped! That's the third wicket of the match for Kedar Jadhav. Pak at 121-7 after 33 overs.
19:08: Asif Ali, out Caught by Dhoni! India picking wickets for fun now! Kedar Jadhav, the man with the golden arm as India's Midas has done it again. That was flatter and shorter outside off, the batsman went for the slash and edged it for the keeper to take it. Pak at 110-6 after 29 overs.
19:01:Shoaib Malik Run Out! A direct from Rayudu sends Malik back. He had already been dropped twice and his luck finally ran out. Pak at 100-5 after 27 overs
18:52: Kedar Jadhav to Sarfraz, out Caught by (sub)Manish Pandey! Pandey pulls off a blinder to remove Sarfraz. There was momentum as he was still in motion having covered good ground to his right and before going over the ropes, he tossed the ball upwards. Runs hard to reach the ball at the boundary, makes enough to get the ball inside the boundary and runs along to leave the audience in aww. What an effort! Pak 96-4 after 25 overs.
18:49: Shoaib Malik dropped again! this time it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Malik looked to sweep it above mid-wicket, was beaten by the spin. Bhuvi over ran that and another chance for Malik here. Kuldeep is bemused. He charged out and then there was no returning back. India have been shabby on the field today. Pak at 93-3 after 24 overs.
18:35: Kuldeep Yadav strikes for India! Babar Azam completely missed the ball. Kuldeep flights it above the eye-line and it dips to beat the batsman, who was advancing down the track. The batsman once flummoxed had no way out. The off-pole was pegged back. India get the much needed breakthrough. Babar Azam b Kuldeep Yadav 47(62) [4s-6].
18:25:Hardik went to ground after finishing the follow-through! He looked in serious discomfort and the physio had to come out to attend Hardik as he was motionless with a lot of pain writ over his face. India will hope that this isn't anything serious. He was escorted off the ground on stretcher. It looked like an injury to the hip. Rayudu bowled the last bowl to complete the over.
18:09: Yuzvendra Chahal completes another fine over, giving away just two runs. Malik and Azam continue a fine partnership to stabilize Pakistan's innings after early wickets. .
18:00: Kuldeep Yadav completes his first over of the game and gives away 10 runs including a six. Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam are looking strong and helping Pakistan to recover from early loss. PAK 49-2 in 13 overs.
17:45: Ten overs have been bowled and India are dominating currently as they have picked two early wickets to put Pakistan on backfoot. PAK 25-2 after 10 overs.
17:20:OUT!! Bhuvneshwar Kumar strikes again, 4.1 Fakhar Zaman, out Caught by Chahal!! Fakhar Zaman, the hero of that Champions Trophy triumph in 2017, is gone for a nine-ball duck. Fakhar Zaman c Chahal b Bhuvneshwar 0(9)
17:11: OUT!! Imam departs. Bhuvneshwar picks the first wicket. Imam drives it wild and knicks it to Dhoni who easily catches in his safe gloves.
17:10: Bumrah bowls a maiden over. Pakistan 2/0 after 2 overs.
17:06: Just two runs from the opening over coming off Imam's bat.
17:03: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bowl the opening over for India, while Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman come out to open for Pakistan.
16:55: Both the teams are out in the ground, singing their national anthem.
