Asia Cup 2018: Malinga marks come back with a bang

Dubai: Vetran pacer, Lasith Malinga, marked his comeback to international cricket with four wickets in the first match of the Asia Cup 2018 between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Saturday. Returning after a year, Malinga in the first over itself took two wickets to stun the Bangladesh batting order.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Bangladesh team's opening batsman, Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan were sent back to pavilion on two consecutive deliveries, as Malinga pushed Bangladesh on the backfoot. Das was caught by Kusal Mendis and on the next ball, the speedster bowled Shakib.

Bangladesh started very poorly, soming under pressure after losing 2 wickets in the first over. However, after the second two wickets fell, Mohammad Mithun and Mushfiqur Rahim shared 133 runs for the third wicket.

Later, Malinga removed M. Mithun, to break the partnership and Mosaddek Hossain to take his tally to four wickets.
