Much of the success of the team goes to their skipper MS Dhoni, who once again proved that he still has a lot to offer as a player and as a leader as the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 455 runs in 16 matches at an average of 75.83. He also silenced his critics by playing crucial knocks for the team and finishing games for CSK.
Dhoni's brilliance impressed former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, who also hailed CSK for their consistency in IPL.
“Dhoni looked extremely relaxed in this IPL. In a scenario which is already well-known to him, the fact that the franchise backed him helped the team,” Ganguly told a Bengali Daily.
The 36-year-old looked much fitter this edition and also played in a way as if he has a point of prove. Dada also added that Dhoni was given importance in CSK changing room which motivated 'Captain Cool' to give his best peformance.
MSD was removed from captaincy last season as he was playing for the Rising Pune Supergiant. Even though his team reached the finals in 2017, Dhoni failed to make an impression with the bat.
