Ganesh Chaturthi Special: Peda Modak Recipe

An all-time yummy modak in it's petha avatar. Condensed milk and milk powder makes this modak a must try!

Serves: 3-4


Milk Powder ‐ 1 Cup (fine powder)
Condensed Milk ‐ 3/4th Cup
Butter ‐ 3 Tbsp
Cardamom Powder ‐ 2tsp
Sugar ‐ 1/4 Cup
Pistachios – 1-2 tbsp crushed for garnish


Melt the butter in a pan and grease the pan with melted butter all over by swirling pan holding handle.

Switch off the flame and add milk, milk powder and Condensed milk to it and using a whisk start stirring without any lumps and return to heat and start cooking till mixture comes together and leaves the sides of the pan.

Let it cool for a while and add few drops of ghee and start kneading into smooth and soft dough.

Still the dough is warm, grease the mold with ghee or oil, take a portion of peda dough and start making shapes. While doing all these cover the dough to prevent from drying.

Once done with making shapes you can garnish them with powdered pistachios and serve.
