Ramzan Special: Rooh Afza Firni

Firni is a traditional sweet dish which is prepared using rice. Rooh afza firni is a newer version of firni which is prepared using rooh afza syrup along with other ingredients.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 3-4


Rooh afza syrup - 1 & 1/2 cup
Milk - 2 litre
Chopped cardamom – 1 tsp
Rice - 8 tbsp
Almonds - 1/2 cup
Pistachios - 1/2 cup
Silver leaf - 2-4 for decoration

Preparation Method

Wash and soak rice in water for an hour. Blend the rice with milk.
Now pour the rice mixture in a pan and cook it until you have 1 ½ litre left.
Then add crushed rice, chopped cardamom and keep stirring in order to avoid rice balls.
As the rice dissolves completely in the mixture, leave it on a low flame. As firni thickens, add rooh afza to it.
Cook it for a minute and pour it in the serving bowl.
Sprinkle sliced almonds, pistachios and place silver leaf on the top.
Serve it either hot or cold.
