Kareena was cautioned that MARRIAGE can RUIN her career
Hyderabad: Kareena Kapoor Khan who is cherishing the success of her latest outing "Veere Di Wedding" in London was once told not to get married since Bollywood is not a place for married actresses and mothers.
Kareena's decision to marry Saif Ali Khan had shocked her family
Kareena's decision to marry Saif Ali Khan shocked her family and many of her well wishers who then advised her not to enter the wedlock for she would end up in dearth of work. But she followed her heart and tied the knot in 2012 with 11 years older Saif. And she smashed that age old belief that Bollywood does not care for married actresses with films and roles that she did post her marriage.
Kareena in her recent interview with a leading daily said that she wants to set and example for other with striking the right balance between work and life. The actress also admits that she was cautioned that there will be no work for her post marriage.
"My family, my son, my husband — they are the most important things for me. I love being a mother as much as I love my work. I want to ace that balancing act and be an example for others. I was told that I won't get films after marriage. I changed that. Even if this [doing fewer films] turns out to be a mistake, I'm okay with it. I have no regrets about the path I have chosen," said Kareena.
When asked about how she is changing the rules of parenting in the industry, the mother of 17-month-old Taimur Ali Khan said, "My husband isn't a businessman who comes home at 6 pm. He is an actor too, and between us, we must balance our time out for Taimur. We have decided we'll do one film each — I did Veere Di Wedding, now he is doing Navdeep's [Singh] film. After he finishes his commitments by November, I will start my next. So, I can kick it off in January."
Kareena, Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma and now Sonam Kapoor Ahuja are definitely rule changers in Bollywood when it comes to female actors who did not bother about what will happen to their career if they shed their single status. And we are more than happy they did not give in to the norm and paved new path in Hindi film industry.
