PM laids foundation stone for Rs 3,318 cr highway projects in Odisha

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Rs 3,318 crore highway projects in Odisha today (January 5).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi did Bhoomi Pujan for three national highway projects of nearly 200 kilometres worth Rs 3,318 crore in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. He unveiled a digital plaque to mark the commencement of work for conservation and development of Rasika Ray Temple, and Excavated Structure at Ancient Fort Haripurgarh.

The projects include:
  • Four laning of Rimuli-Koida section of NH-215 (new NH-520), Koida-Rajamunda section of NH-215 (new NH-520) and Singara-Binjabahal section of NH-6 (new NH-49)
  • Construction of four bypasses, three flyovers, 11 vehicular underpasses, 12 major bridges, 50 minor bridges and 34 kilometres of service road
  • He dedicated to the nation, the Balasore-Haldia-Durgapur section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline of IOCL
  • He inaugurated the Multi Modal Logistic Park at Balasore, and six Passport Sewa Kendras
  • He flagged off the second passenger train from Tatanagar to Badampahar

Benefits received because of the projects:
  • The projects will improve inter-state connectivity between Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha, as also the connectivity of mineral rich districts with other parts and ports of the state
  • The projects are likely to contribute towards generation of employment opportunities, along with substantial gains in terms of reduced operating cost of vehicles
Addressing the gathering, he said the total worth of projects inaugurated, or for which the Foundation Stone was laid today, is over Rs. 4000 crore.
