BCCI announce 14-man squad for first 2 ODIs against Windies

Mumbai: Team India's selection committee, led by former MSK Prasad, on Thursday announced the 14-man squad for opening two one day internationals against West Indies.

  • Interestingly, flamboyant Delhi wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant got his maiden ODI call-up for the upcoming series, while Ambati Rayudu, who impressed in the Asia Cup, has retained his place, as has Manish Pandey. Kedar Jadhav misses out due to injury.

Also, permanent skipper Virat Kohli makes a comeback to the ODI scene after reportedly missing the Asia Cup due to mental fatigue and a wrist niggle.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, who are not part of the ongoing Test series, have been included for the limited-over series, while Dinesh Karthik has been ignored.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been awarded for his good performance recently as the all-rounder has been named in 14-man squad.

In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have been given rest for the first two games, while Mohammed Shami has been racalled. Other than Shami, two pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Shardul Thakur have been named in the squad. The spin department will be handled by Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
