NITI Aayog released Atal Tinkering Lab Handbook to boost innovation in country

New Delhi: To give a boost to the innovation sector across the country, NITI Aayog released the "Atal Tinkering Lab Handbook: Nayee Dishayen, Naye Nirman, Naya Bharat" under the Atal Innovation Mission. NITI Aayog also announced a 10 Month Student Entrepreneurship Programme, under which the top six innovations of Atal Tinkering Marathon 2017 will be funded to transform the prototypes into market products.

The Handbook was launched by NITI Aayog's CEO, Amitabh Kant, along with Ramanathan Ramanan, Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission. While addressing the event, he explained that the prototypes of these innovations will be in six crucial themes, which will be having a broader social impact. It includes Clean Energy, Waste Management, Agritech, Healthcare, Smart Mobility and Water Resources.

He also said that the six innovations will bring in fresh ideas to the market and inspire a generation of entrepreneurs. The top six innovations designed in Atal Tinkering Labs includes a smart tap which monitors the water as well as purifies it and a low-cost ayurvedic herbal air which eliminates harmful microbes in the air.

The Atal Tinkering Lab intiative is a public-private-partnership along with Centre-State cooperation. This handbook aims to create a sustainable approach of innovations at high school level.
