When Yash Chopra wanted to replace 'arrogant' SRK

Hyderabad: There is no denying Yash Chopra cemented the quintessential romantic hero image of Shah Rukh Khan with few of the biggest hist of actor's illustrious career. SRK grew to become blue-eyed star of Yash Raj Films, but things were not the same when their association started off with "Darr" in 90s. There were times when YRF head wanted to replace the actor as he came across a guy who could invite unwanted troubles for the filmmaker on sets.

Not only Sr Chopra but Subhash Ghai too had same opinion about the rising star. Ghai too thought that SRK has major attitude problem but later on he ended up doing "Trimurti" and "Pardes" starring Khan in lead.

It took time for filmmakers to understand that SRK is not arrogant but at the same time he will not dance to the tunes of the filmmakers.

Even when he was new in the industry he strictly followed some dos and don'ts and people took that as arrogance. In an earlier interview with a magazine, SRK spoke about how his apparent arrogance irked the YRF head honcho who thought of kick him out of "Darr" even after he officially signed the film.

"Yash Chopra told me the other day that after signing me on for 'Darr', he was still looking for a replacement because he thought I was too arrogant. He thought that I would give him lot of trouble", SRK said in an interview.

Two great minds of Hindi film industry who came together with "Darr" never looked back since then. If SRK is king of romance, Yash Chopra is the king maker. They grew close with time and did some iconic films together. And the one who wanted to replace SRK once was so impressed with what the actor brought to table that he could hardly think of anyone else.

SRK's filmography reads nearly a dozen films coming out under YRF banner and he was fortunate enough to star in Mr Chopra's last directorial venture "Jab Tak Hai Jaan".
